GHRP-6 is short for Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide 6, which basically refers to an hgH secretagogue, which theoretically can effectively increase the amount of natural secretion of hgH in an animal test subjects body and secrete it while increasing lean body mass and reducing fat at the same time. Since synthetic d-amino acids are included here, the animal test subjects body will end up releasing other hormones too. However, since it doesn’t actively work with GHRH, it won’t act at that receptor, but at the ghrelin’s receptor instead.
The GHRP-6 hexapeptide comes with a special chain that consists of 6 amino acids, which is in charge of telling the body when it needs to begin releasing its hgH secretion. During this time, it will also block out the hormone somatostatin, which is known to stop this release altogether.
There are a lot of different effects that come with GHRP-6. In many studies an various animal test subjects lower body fat, increased muscle, increased strength and increased stamina, were all reported.
GHRP-6 is also protective and anti-inflammatory, which is important in muscle synthesis and recovery. Since GHRP-6 makes the liver work on IGF-1 hormone secretion, as well, it can also help burn more fat and build more muscle as time goes by.
Usually, GHRP-6 will release the growth hormones in specific doses that aren't well-known yet, but are quite different from GHRH. Generally speaking, GHRP-6 is more efficient than GHRH when tested on research subjects, though. It also works synergistically.
Overall, this compound has been studied a lot of times. Through the time-dependent and dose-dependent studies made on it, it has become clear that it can act very naturally on the pituitary and hypothalamic sites of its research test subjects.
These studies also showed that the growth hormone release brought about by GHRP-6 was inhibited by somatostatin, proving that its main target is actually the hypothalamus. Somatostatin was also inhibited whenever GHRP-6 brought the GRF neurons to life. Unlike GHRP-2, GHRP-6 doesn't have any affect on the cAMP levels in the cells, though. This proves that it has the power to activate growth hormone release from somatotrophs through different receptors of unknown mechanisms.
Some researchers do suggest that the functions and effectiveness of growth hormones might rely on the physical condition of each research test subject. In other words, if obesity is a problem, there might be a lower growth hormone secretion overall. Although obesity can affect the effectiveness of this hormone, GHRP-6 could be independent of gender and age depending on its overall dose, too, even without noadregenic paths playing a part in the a2 adrenergic receptors.
